Parent & Tot Ballet

This exciting program is designed to introduce cildren to the beautiful art of dancing. With the help and active presence of one parent or caregiver, children will be guided in a playful way to dance, move, jump, and tumble. All activities are age appropriate and will increase muscle strength, coordination and balance.

 

 

Pre-Dance

This class stresses coordination, large motor skills development, musicality and listening skills. Studnets will be introduced t story ballets as told through dance which will help engage the student's attention and imagination.

 

 

Pre - Ballet

Introduces students to a more formal study of classical ballet through age-appropriate skill development, creative expression, music appreciation and explores the relationship between music and dance.

 

 

Ballet Level I

Expands on the students vocabulary introduced in Pre-Ballet through exploration of barre and centre work, and continues to work on creativity and expression.

 

Ballet Level 2 thru 5

Classical ballet technique is taught emphasizing strength, flexibility, coordination, proper body alignment, muscle toning and musicality. Classes make use of the full range of ballet movement to increase competence and stamina

 

Ballet Level 6

Level 6 Program blends rigorous pre-professional ballet classes with an array of enrichment activities. Students enter this program upon the recommendation of the director. The increased class time allows for additional training and mentoring of students who are pursuing a professional ballet career or higher education in dance. The advanced levels of training  include pointe work for women, specialty men's classes, variations, pas de deux, core conditoning. and optional career prep classes. 

 

 

Jazz

Jazz is a contemporary dance style which can be seen from Broadway to what you watch on tv.It covers a variety of styles and includer music from the hottest songs of today and yesterdays old favorites. Includes rhythms and beats from Africa,Latin America and other World Music. Because of its wide spectrum of diversity it should always be included in a students dance repertoire

 

 

Tap

Consists of a set warm ups used to develop a students rhythm, timing, musical phrases and proper technical skills. Floor  work to develop a confidence and training the ear as well as the body. No style of music is left unexplored.

 

Modern

NBTDC's modern class was developed to try new movements that are more **free and expressive. It is based on the fact that the students at the school are **ballet dancers and it is meant to compliment their ballet technique. Modern **teaches more of a swinging quality that uses the upper body in various ways, as well as floor work. Student's are also encouraged to engage their creativity and design their own movements.

 

MUSICAL THEATRE

Musical Theatre is for dancers, actors, and singers ( No Experience necessary) and for    those who wish to improve stage presence, character and audition skills. It will cover a wide   range of theater styles including ballet, jazz, and ballroom. This class also features              musical theater history and basic technique, as well as choreography and combinations from Broadway shows.

 

Hip Hop / Breakdancing

Have you ever wanted to learn the moonwalk, spin on your head or shake your butt like the dancers in music video's? Then you've come to the wrong place. We prefer to educated people on the real roots of freestyle forms origination o the streets and in the clubs prior to media exploitation. Throughout these classes Losstunnown strives to maintain the authenticity of the original creators as well as their movement styles. If you have a strong interest in dance culture and are enthusiastic about learning Hip Hop, Poppin and Breakdancing then come and join one of our classes.

Classes vary in size, age and ability with no prerequisites. Everyone is always welcome as long as you bring an open mind and positive attitude. We offer excellent dance instructors that reach out to provide constant constructive feedback. Classes focus on the key elements of dance which include timing and balance. Students will learn about body transitioning and more specifically how to adjust their movement in relation to the tempo of the music. This technique will help them in learning teh fundamentals of rhythm, form and fluidity.
